Project 1.0 Reflection
Throughout this project, I have discovered that I very much enjoy playing around with different materials and rearranging them in thoughtful ways. It was also very exciting to see how other people interpreted letters and their words in ways that would have never thought. Seeing other's progress also gave me inspiration on how I could also improve on my own letter studies and word designs. I will definitely utilize the progress I made with this project to think further into my relationship with letters and how I can utilize different styles to make my designs more effectively communicate with others. My greatest strengths with this project were getting the shapes I wanted down and getting very good photos despite only having my room as an area to work in. I was very surprised with how much progress I made with what I had available and really enjoyed getting to know and manipulate my materials. I think my most powerful learning moment was just getting away from simple lines and doing more research on different fonts. I felt like I could have gotten more creative but regardless, I am still very happy with the final result. The only thing that got in my way was not having a large workspace and having limited materials. I also had a very tight time constraint since I was working on other projects and because I was packing to move back into my dorm this week. I feel like if I had not had those other tasks to do I could have fully immersed myself into exploring more shapes and styles. I feel like I could probably teach this subject to someone else but not in a very cohesive way. I could probably teach the very basics but not convey how to use these letter studies as a way to improve someone's relationship with letters and words.
